316 stainless steel resists corrosion in salt air and wet conditions and keeps its bright finish, which makes it the rope for coastal and architectural work. It has a tensile grade of 1,770 N/mm².
Its minimum breaking load is 381 kg (3.7 kN), a reference value for 316 stainless rope of this size and construction. For a working load, divide that by a design factor suited to the job, commonly 5, and allow for fittings, bends and wear.
